Day 2010 NaPoWriMo Day 16

For the Poetic Asides’ prompt to write a ‘death poem’.

Death of the Library

“Libraries should be the beating heart of the school, not mausoleums for dusty books.” -Nonfiction Matters, Stephanie Harvey

Heart strong
beat, beat
family nights
beat, beat
tools for thinkers, information users
beat, beat
author visits
beat, beat
books checked out before the dust
settles
beat beat
classes taught, students engaged

and

then a change to save money
send the librarian
traveling between two schools

heart attack
