Remembering Rusty

Rusty

Through grace you arrive in our home,
third one before age one
We became your forever family
An adventurer, a garden digger, chasing after Mr. Squirrel
best of pals with sister, Sophie unless
there were two penne pasta
noodles on the floor
on the lookout for neighbor cats
We had the seven o’clock tradition;
milk bones
A little heater in bed
slept in the crook of my arm
How would we know
you’d be gone too soon?
forever in our hearts
our sweet little boy.

  2. Oh Jone, what a heartfelt remembrance of Rusty. It is always, always too soon to say goodbye to these four-legged friends.

So sad, Jone. They are truly like our children and we so depend on the presence of their little personalities and the rituals that become part of the normal family dynamic. I wish I was near and could give you a hug.

Your words…..so straight “to the heart”. Too soon; always too soon; forever is too soon…….We cant stop loving though, please love another again….they need us. We are good moms and dads and that is not always the case. Wieners are an addiction…..thanks for sharing “Rusty”
