SOLS: Eight Years

20140211-180116.jpgWeekly SOLS can be found at Two Writing Teachers.

Eight years ago I started blogging at Check It Out. My original blog was HERE.(actually there was a year on another platform that is now defunct). It seemed so revolutionary then.  Some colleagues shook their heads at the concept.  But what a way to showcase student work.

By October 2006, I began my own personal writing blog, Deowriter (and have since moved to this platform).

For me, I love being in a community of writers.  It’s satisfying to know that someone might read my post and connect with me in some way.  And isn’t that what we strive for our students to have a community of writers.

At Check It Out, I am rethinking some of the posts I use to do such as “Who’s Reading What Wednesday?”  I recently started to interview my students reading habits for “It’s Monday, What are You Reading” posts.

Both blogs give an avenue to share writing and to be part of a larger community. I am not sure where the eight years have gone but I am open to for what  the next eight years brings .

Congratulations. I have just finished my first year as a blogger. I hadn’t thought of including student voices, but I am intrigued by the idea and already have a couple of kids in mind.

I enjoyed that recent post where you interviewed, Jone. Congratulations on your eight years-wow & wow again. Are you going to take the March challenge? Hope to see you, but will see you in other ways if not. Cheers!

Congrats on eight years of blogging! That is awesome! I wonder if I will have the stamina to last that long.
