Every day for thirty one days I ‘ll share a slice and read others at Two Writing Teachers.
The first Tuesday in March is designated “Cat in the Hat” night in honor of Dr. Seuss. Teachers and community members come to school to read books to students. We’ve been doing this for the seven years. Such great fun as students arrive in pajamas or comfy clothes and visit three different readers.
Chance and his owner, Lisa listen to children read. Normally they are at school every Tuesday for lunch time reading.
Pat the Bunny and Sam come every year for children to read to Pat. It’s very special,to have a therapy bunny.
Barbra, from the Fort Vancouver Regional Library attends every year as well. Plus, she comes the first Wednesday of the month for Pre-K story hour. this is one of several teachers reading to students. Finally everyone is happy to have cake, donated by a local church.
It’s one of my favorite events during the year.

Oh, what fun! And to have a cake, too!
Reading and a cake – both yummy.
I love how the pictures share the experiences with us.

Every picture tells a story to quote Rod Stewart. So much fun.
Love seeing the pictures of this special day, Jone. How great that you all make the effort to celebrate this wonderful man. What gifts he gave to us!
Our goal has been to bring families into school.
I loved seeing all the people reading to the kiddos! When I was in the classroom, I always took my golden retriever to visit once or twice a year. Love seeing someone else do that!
Chance and lisa and the bunny are part of Pet Partners, a therapy animal organization.
Looks like a wonderful time!
Thanks. They always have a great time.
