Thirty-one days of writing, sharing and reading slices at Two Writing Teachers.
Saw this on another slice and I am totally using it today. ( has another slice planned but I also had an article to work on). By the hours:
5:00 AM: Alarm goes off. I hit snooze.
6:00 AM: I get out of bed, get tea, and read email. Then get ready for work.
7:00 AM: Tea to go prepared, breakfast to go prepared, dog in kennel and car (doggie daycare today), and head to school.
8:00 AM: Morning traffic, arrive at school, transfer the pooch, and prepare for the day. Kids and a teacher are using the library for math club.
9:00 AM: Bus duty. Love saying good morning to kids. Finish getting ready to vote for the reader choice awards with third and second grade. Grab books for PreK Story time. Help a 3rd grader who’s sobbing about his mom.
10:00 AM: First class completed. Wait for the preschoolers and we are shut out. no one showed up. More time to get Poetry Postcards ready for fourth grade.
11:00 AM: Fourth grade. Emphasize the quality of postcards and where they will get sent. Students take time to illustrate. Book checkout. Help a student find a book that will interest her. Eat lunch.
12:00 PM: Help students check out books. Greet second grade class and they get to vote on books.
1:00 PM: Finish with second grade. School gets out. Early release for planning. Check in with the counselor and principal about the crying student from this morning.
2:00 PM: Meet with a former student who’s written a picture book. We talk and then I get ready for our collaboration inquiry group.
3:00 PM: Collaboration time with inquiry group. Using Marzano’s book. Talked about ways of organizing for classroom success and whole brain learning.
4:00 PM: Leave school. Pick up dog from daycare. Hit traffic on the way home.
5:00 PM: Discover my bank car is at home when I go to get gas. Luckily, I have enough gas to get home.
6:00 PM: Watch the news. Start revising poetry article.
7:00 PM: Watch DVR guilt pleasure, ‘The Blacklist.’
8:00 PM-10:00 PM: Another guilty pleasure: American Idol. Email my two friends to comment on AI. We have done this for years. Begin writing this piece.
10:00 PM: Finish slice and post. Go to bed. Tired!
Jone, fun to hear about those postcards. I’ll be looking forward to getting one again this year! Love this format for sharing your day.
Wow, what a day, Jone – glad you had time for a guilty pleasure, though!
Fun to hear about your very full day, Jone-hardly a minute to sit! And about that ‘guilty pleasure’! I watch the Voice, & enjoy seeing those who are trying so hard to “make it”. They are so talented.
So appreciate this format. May find myself giving it a go tomorrow!
That’s a full day! So glad you get to work collaboratively with other teachers. What a joy that must be! And I”m glad you get to indulge your guilty pleasures. I will probably watch “Lilyhammer” tonight when I get home from class. My wife and daughter will be away, so I can watch the things that my wife doesn’t find interesting.
