SOLSC Day 28: The Home Stretch

Thirty-one days of writing, sharing, and reading slices at Two Writing Teachers.

My grand girls have had spring break this week. In Washington state we do have spring break until a week from tomorrow. You can see it in the teachers and the children. We are weary and ready for a break. We have six more school days until freedom for a week.

Today at the staff meeting, we got to role play teacher and student. We practiced ways deescalate situations when students ramp up the attitude. We got to take turns playing the student from slight refusal to throwing a tantrum. I think we needed to act out. It was good to be active and not sitting at tables to discuss more data and assessments.

Spring beak, time to rejuvenate. I cannot wait.

I’m on break as of today, Jone. I guess I thought we were the last, but now you say it’s another week. You can make it-we did! It always seems long when one knows it’s just a week away, doesn’t it?

We are there, too – except that our break is short (too many snow days) and still far away. Sigh.

Our spring break starts after today. I can’t wait to rest and read and re-order my life. Hope next week goes quickly for you, but slowly for me!

Six days for me as well! And, can you believe, we have PD the Friday afternoon before spring break??? Students get to go home at noon, but will have to demonstrate best practices!

I loved that you role played this (though I personally panic a little at role play time). It is so important to work through hard situations and have a little fun as a staff! :-)))
