Thanks to Two Writing Teachers for a place to share our slices.
So oldest grandgirl is in fourth grade. She loves movies. I surround her with books. Which she’s started but not finished any. Well, she finished those little fairy stories but not a novel. This doesn’t surprise me. I watch students try books out and return with in a day. It’s about stamina. It’s about that first book that grabs you.
Well, during February, oldest found THE book. The first one she would finish. It was Zebra Forest by Adina Rishe Gewitz. She stuck with the book for a whole month. And was pleased with herself when she completed it.
When I asked her what she liked about the book, she said she couldn’t guess what was going to happen.
Now Zebra Forest is a new book to me. So I’ve started reading it. I can see why she liked it so full of suspense. I am enjoying the read. And looking forward to more shared reading with grandgirl. She just started reading Flush by Carl Hiassen.
I have never heard of Zebra Forest so I’ll have to look it up on Amazon. Flush is a great book and well liked by many students. It’s great when someone discovers a book that they love, isn’t it?
