morning walk
red calypso sky
storm warning

BACKSTORY:  The sky was an incredible red this morning. Cold, crisp, in the teens.  I couldn’t help but think of the old sailor’s saying “Red sky at morning, sailors take warning.”

We are expecting another round of ice/snow/sleet tomorrow.  We will see.

  1. Red calypso….I just want to see that even if it IS a warning. A lovely haiku. Happy New Year!

Like several others, I love the “red calypso sky.” Hope you have a great book waiting! (I’m having trouble getting started with regular reading again, now that we are done with the CYBILS books)!

  3. Batten down the hatches! What a great atmosphere you’ve created.

I agree with Tara that the red calypso sky is a stunning set of words. Stay warm, Jone.

I’ve been on sailing trips several times and we asked about that old saying. Those sailing experts claimed truth, that they did pay attention to the sky always. I too love that “calynpso sky”!

  6. Beautiful! I hope the weather isn’t too bad.

  7. Tara Smith says:

Ooh – red calypso sky! I can just picture that!
