SOLSC17: 14/31, “It’s Time To Go?”

IMG_0785

Thank you to Two Writing Teachers for holding space for us to sharing our writing every day in March.

Yesterday was Poetry Rocks, a club for first through fifth graders.  We wrote odes based on Today’s Little Ditty‘s challenge. We read some of the odes from the challenge and then as a group we wrote An Ode to Recess which I will share on Friday at my Check It Out blog.

Then students began writing their own odes about fairies, dogs, boa constrictors, poetry, slime, unicorns, and spring.  Students read their pieces aloud  until I said, “It’s time to get ready to leave.”  To which a second grader shocked, asked, “It’s time to go?  I was having so much fun.”

I love when that happens for students. Made my day and possibly my week.

What a wonderful experience for all of you! I can’t wait to read your group ode on Friday. I keep thinking about tackling that Michelle’s challenge but haven’t quite put pen to paper yet.
