This sounds so sweetly familiar- my now grown-up daughter was in orchestra from 5th grade all through high school.
Your ending line really twists the mood of your tanka. As I read the slices today and other recent pieces in different online writing communities, I’m saddened by how many people are struggling. So many upbeat, positive people are feeling negative and overwhelmed — frantically dog paddling, trying to keep their heads above those drowning waters, trying to find some beauty or positive energy in their worlds.
I know. I try to limit news watching because it’s so filled with despair.
I started out in a large concert hall and then the murmurings of children took me to a school gym. I love how language can take us on a journey.
