SOLSC18 6/31: Cat in the Hat Night

JRM sol

Thank you to Two Writing Teachers for holding space for us to sharing our writing every day in March.

The first Tuesday in March is our annual “Cat in the Hat” Night for Family Library Night.  Teachers volunteer to read their favorite children’s books in fifteen-minute segments.  Students visit the various classrooms.

The evening ends with treats donated by our community partner, Crosspointe Church.

And this year each child went home with a book. A fun evening and I hope the tradition will continue next year.

Our local elementary school celebrated Cat in a Hat, too. And, a local, very gifted cookie maker made lots of Cat/Hat themed cookies for the kids. They had so much fun.

This is so cool! I love the idea of having a community night around books. Teaching at the high school level our Poetry night is one of our communal activities that I hope can keep going for years to come.
