Poetry Friday: Winter Issue of Frogpond

Today my other blog, Check It Out, is hosting Poetry Friday. There are already a lot of good links which will have you wandering on a poetry path.

This photo was taken at Tualatin Wildlife Refuge in December 2016. This image has stayed with me.

It’s been my goal to submit more poetry to publications. In December, I sent ten haiku to the Haiku Society of America for its winter issue of Frogpond. This one was selected.

  1. Chilly pond & tree scene with a wild ending line . . . intrigued by the open question here. And applause for not only your productivity, your tenacity in sending out, but Frogpond’s wisdom in selecting this one! It seems like you have warmed several of us to consider following your don’t-give-up-path. Many appreciations, Jone. (And for the hosting at CHECK IT OUT) this past Friday. You are a poetry dynamo!

Congrats! I love the haiku and that photo — WOW! It looks like a painting!

I’m inspired by you to send some of my haiku to Frogpond. Can you submit poems that have been published on a blog?

    • Hi Mary Lee – Inspired by this, too, I found this to answer your Q, from the Frogpond link:
“All submissions must be original, unpublished work that is not under consideration by a print or web-based journal. While posts on Internet sites such as Facebook or Twitter are eligible, posts on blogs are not.”

No. I consider all poems on my blog drafts and if I use any, I have revised. Also, I am making a greater attempt to writing specifically for submission and then if they aren’t selected I will post on thos blog.
