Poetry Friday: Who Likes Chocolate?

Thanks to Margaret at Reflections on the Teche for hosting us today. And it’s Friday. In Summer. And I have another swap to share. It involves chocolate. Dark chocolate.

Rebecca (Sloth Reads)sent me her swap. She read my blog and knows my love of dark chocolate. It was a sweet delight.

Chocolate Summer Days

Hot gooey days
Time seems slow
Stretch and relax
Feel the breeze blow

Delicious dreams
Of starry skies
Running through grass
And fireflies

The sweet delights
Sun-kissed nose
Children’s laughter
Sand between toes

Calm and content
A time to be
Melting moments
Into memory

~Rebecca Herzog

Ah to have fireflies (not in the Pacific Northwest). They are so magical. In a week, I’ll be heading to the coast for beach time so this poem hits the nail on the head.

My response:

time slows, feel the breeze
on a sun-kissed freckled nose
delicious moments

Rebecca gave you such a sweet delight, both chocolate and a poem to savor. YUM! Might you and Rebecca like to offer your poems for my #EmbraceableSummer Gallery collection?

Rebecca did a great job personalizing her swap poems!

“Melting moments into memory!” Delicious and perfect!

Both chocolate bar and poem are sweet delights! Enjoy your time at the beach.

  8. cweichel says:

The only summer thing better than a dark chocolate bar, is salted chocolate ice cream. Both of these poems have left me craving either of them!

  9. Ramona says:

Such fun! My favorite phrase, “Calm and content/A time to be.” Maybe I’ll need to ask Rebecca’s permission to share this delicious poem along with a bar of chocolate for fellow poetry & chocolate lovers. I feel the pangs of missing fireflies in the Pacific NW. It’s why I love a trip home during the summer months.

  10. What a delicious post filled with summer’s sweet lingering time and tastes from both your poem Jone and Rebecca’s. Thanks for sharing them!

  11. Michelle Heidenrich Barnes says:

Rebecca’s poem should be savored slowly, just like that Lindt bar (YUM!). Love the delicious moment you describe in your haiku, too. I can smell the salt water. 🙂

  12. Linda Mitchell says:

Yummy words! And, yes…I am a chocolate lover! I have some every day. What a great swap idea. Rebecca, consider the chocolate idea stolen–er, borrowed 😉

  13. katswhiskers says:

You had me with your blog title! Enjoy delicious moments (and chocolate for days!) on your beach trip, Jone.

  14. lindabaie says:

I love the rhyme, and the poem reads slowly, like summer days! Chocolate is always good. Have a great trip!
