Thanks to Kat at Kathryn Apel for hosting our fab poetry community this week.
What a week! I arrived home from California to find this book gift in my mailbox.
Thank you, Amy VanDerwater for this treasure trove!
Then yesterday, my mailbox gifted me twice. First was a Summer Poetry Swap from Margaret Simon. I sent her a poem one of the poems in my Secret Canyon series which she posted HERE.
Margaret took my image from a recent Sunday Solace, wrote a haiku, and then created a wooden plaque for me. I am honored that she saw a haiku in the photo.

My second gift in the mailbox was the earrings from Robyn Hood Black. Have you visited her Etsy shop? Highly recommend. These earrings, “old frog” arrive. I’m hoping that if I wear them when I write haiku I will channel Basho. And included were the BE KIND earrings.
What I love about Robyn is her attention to detail and packaging with every purchase. She is my go to person for gifts.
This week has been filled with such joy that I would like to Pay It Forward. So if you comment by Wednesday, September 4, 2019, you’ll have a chance to win a pair of BE KIND earrings, my treat. I’ll announce next Friday and let Robyn know where to send them.
Finally, this post is late because my husband and I went to the Oregon State Fair early this morning. I’d entered a poem for the Oregon theme and was pleasantly surprised to receive an Honorable Mention.
I love your image, Jone. It looks like the sculpted rock might be in the southwest, though I have never been there. Margater’s poem pairs so well with the photo, too. I’m glad you enjoyed a week of such delightful surprises. Congratulations on your Honorable Mention!
Congratulations on your Honorable Mention, Jone! It’s been a week blessed with many kindnesses, wonders, and beautiful gifts. You deserve them all. 🙂
Congratulations on all the good news! I love it when the mailbox brims with gifts and goodness and poetry.
So many exciting things happening for you, Jone. Margaret’s poem is beautiful paired with your image. It reminds me of a hike I took in the slot canyons of Albuquerque.
Well, hello there, Jone – I’m even later than you are this week, as far as getting around and responding and such myself! ;0) Amy is such a perceptive and thoughtful gift-giver, and Margaret’s creativity always delights! Thanks for sharing these.
And THANK YOU so much for the shout-out, and for your kind give-away idea. Can’t wait to send a pair of earrings to one of these fine, kind folks.
Echoing CONGRATS on your worthy ribbon win at the fair; I also enjoyed seeing that good news on Instagram.
–Gratitude for all of YOUR kindness!

Wow! Margaret’s words are the perfect accompaniment to your stunning photo –what a lovely swap gift! Your post is pulsing with all sorts of happy vibes and I love that you’re paying it forward! Happy haiku writing and congratulations on your poetic success!
I saw your photography success on insta! Congratulations. (And lovely to see snapshots, too.) Your poetry gifts are both lovely. How blessed we are, with the poetry swaps. Every gift is always so unique – and perfect!
Oops, forgot to say congratulations for your poem award, too!
Your photos are amazing, Jone. I love all the treasures you shared. Margaret’s words, sculptor of time, fit that picture beautifully. And, yes, Robyn’s shop is filled with special gifts. Those earrings are special. Thanks for all!
Oh, what joy has arrived in your mailbox. There is just nothing better than a new book in the mailbox. I love it whenever that happens! And, those earrings! Oh, my goodness….so cute and fun and poetic at the same time. Finally, I do love that ‘the sculpture of time’ has a color and that it’s purple. Such a beautiful capture of that photo in words. Thanks for a beautiful post!
So much treasure in your mailbox! I love Margaret’s word choices. Yes, Robyn’s earrings look perfect for channeling Basho 🙂 (I wish I had pierced ears!) Congrats on the honorable mention!
A whole abundance of happy literacy and art in one post! The journal art book from Amy looks inviting, Margaret’s haiku captivates as does your photo. I like your beach poem. I am so drawn to the beach. I agree about Robyn’s Etsy store!
