Poetry Friday: Catching Up

Welcome all. So glad you stopped by. And thanks to Jama at Jama’s Alphabet Soup for hosting all the poetry goodness in the world today.

I’m behind in posting for #poemtobter2019 and #inktober2019. I have been subbing in my former school this week I went to hear Richard Powers, the author of THE OVERSTORY on Wednesday night and that’s when I go behind.

I’ll admit that the work for Wednesday, wild, had me in all different directions. But today, listening t the weather reports about our coast the following came to mind.

I am so enjoying these prompts and the time to play with the sketches. What I realize is how lost in the sketch I get. For me, I like it so much better than coloring in coloring books.

Isn’t this cover stunning? It’s the latest editing project of Michelle H. Barnes. Her daughter, the very talented, Miranda Barnes, did the cover. I so love the detail.

Look for this new collection sometime soon. It includes 96 poems by 57 poets.

Tomorrow is going to be a real treat. I get to take a class from a local Oregon poet, John Morrison at The Attic Institute where I currently take a writing class with Emily Whitman. I’ll share more next week.

I wish I could hear those wild waves and watch the hermit crabs scuttle. Enjoy your class!

Love that zentangly tide pool, Jone. Do you know about the zentangle style of drawing? Like sketching, I also find that to be more enjoyable than coloring. If you’re not familiar, you should definitely google it. Thanks for posting the cover of the TLD anthology and linking to me and Miranda. 🙂

Sounds like you are having all KINDS of fun! Celebrate the fullness of your life (so full that you get behind in creative ventures…what a gift!!!).

Thank you for sharing! A few years back I took up the creative exercise of ZenTangle. I found it really fun and a great challenge to rethink how I approached drawing things in general. zentangle[dot]com is a great website to get started. Enjoy!

You sound delightfully busy. Thank you for the Poemtember prompt idea. I’m enjoying it too when I can get in on it. I love your pen and ink sketches. They are wonderful

  6. Love the sketch/poem…and scuttle is the perfect verb!

Jone, I’ve really been enjoying your sketch/poem combos! I posted my response to “wild” today, too! It’s fun to see so many takes on the same prompt.
