Poetry Friday: Coast Haiku and 2020 Postcard Invite

Thank you Irene at Live Your Poem for hosting Poetry Friday this week.

Did you know there are fifty-five days until this decade ends? How about starting the new decade with New Year Postcard? In Japan, it’s called Nengajo, a Japanese custom of ushering in the new year.

How It Works:

  • Choose to send five, ten postcards.
  • Create a postcard:  you can buy a postcard and write a poem on the other side or you can create one postcard to send to everyone (I use Walgreens or Zazzle)
  • Once you get the names, send by January 25, 2020 (beginning of Chinese New Years)
  • If you choose, you can work in the Chinese animal for 2020: The year of the Rat. It is not required.
  • Have fun!

  1. Your poem reminds me that I must find the ocean soonest. 🙂 I am a water baby, clearly. 🙂

Your ocean poem made me long to be on the coast. Nothing is as soothing as the sound of ocean waves or a river running.

  3. Yay! Thank you for organizing this swap. I’m looking forward to participating 🙂

Thanks, Jone. Your event is always so much fun and this year we are welcoming a new decade. As for your ocean haiku, I look out at the waves and wonder. Beautiful photo. First rainbow is wonderful for the new decade.
