Poetry Friday: More New Year Poetry Postcards

Thanks to Kat at Kathryn Apel for hosting to all the Poetry Friday goodness.

This week brought more New Year Poetry Post Cards. I just love having these greet me in January. Tomorrow is the beginning of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rat.

From Mary, who has sent postcards to me for years.
The illustration is from THE COMPREHENSIVE PICTORIAL ENCYCLOPEDIA, 1943
Robyn always has clever illustrations from interesting old books. Love she gives them new life.

Oh, Betsy, I want enough snow for a fun snowball fight at least once this summer.
It was a fun surprise to get this postcard from Robert with Winterberry on it
as I had recently researched the winterberry for haiku.
I love how the branches and trees from this triolet. It’s a reminder for me
to write more of these this year.
Michelle’s art is a welcomed sight in the mail. Her line,
“the spilling light spreads over our New Year” give me hope
that winter darkness is waning
When Kay sent this last week, I had to show my niece who immediately recognized
the page in the background was from Harry Potter Book 3.
And this last postcard again brings me hope for one real snowfall this winter.

You ending haiku wraps up this postcard exchange perfectly. Thank you for organizing it all. And I am tickled that you and your niece recognized the book the background page is from. Somehow, it doesn’t take very much text at all for me to recognize those books.
