NaPoWriMo Day 3: Rain Haiku

20140402-210718.jpg

Today, the words are on the page but am feeling it forced, rushed, and the “have to” feeling is creeping up on me. I have this vision to create a little collection of poems on a theme: rain. Tonight I’m stuck…have a few poems started that need simmer time. But for now a haiku. Been thinking about the country’s drought.

after the rain
the cracked earth
rivulets

Or would it be better

rivulets
in the cracked earth
after the rain

Or

the cracked earth
rivulets
after the rainXxx

  1. “simmer time” – Yes! I really like the word “rivulets” as its own line in your haiku – anyplace you choose to put it works!

Ah the life of the writer. Re-seeing and re-vision. Just like I always say: poets are word artists painting the world on the page in words. Let it simmer. You will make your discovery soon enough. A big hello to you. I have been off doing other projects, but reading as much as I could over the last few months. Missing my blog life among such wonderful teacher/poet/child-advocate people!
